***Black Crow Jewelry***

ENTREVISTA ORIGINAL
Would you like to tell us your name?
My name is Trudy, among beaders better known as "Black Crow"

How old are you?
My age is 51, Zodiac sign Gemini.

What country are you born?
The Netherlands

Where do you live now?
I still live in The Netherlands

When did you start with this hobby?
I started with beadwork in april 2007

How did you start?
By the end of 2006 i was surfing on the world wide web and ran into the website of Heidi Kummli.
I saw a pretty raven in a necklace that caught my eye, and as much as I love crows and raven, I decided to send her an e-mail to ask her were she bought it.
I was totally flabbergasted by the beauty of her jewelry, this was all new for me, I had never seen something this before !
The reply on my mail was very fast and I bought the raven that was made of porcelain by a wonderful artist named Laura Mears.
My plans are to use the raven for a bag, still another item on my to-do list !

Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
There are more artists who's work i love, but the 3 most important are:
Heidi Kummli
Sherry Serafini
Vampi Choy

How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby?
That depends on how busy i am with other things, but i do try to bead every day for at least one or two hours !

Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
It is still my hobby, but it is a dream to start someday my own 'real' beadwork jewelry shop !

What other hobbies do you have?
I love to take my camera with me when i go for a walk.
Photographing is my second love, i love to take pictures from nature and other objects, they are always an inspiration for my beadwork.

Would you like to tell us a little bit more about you?
I grew up as an only child with beloved parents. My mom was creative too and she could make wonderful things with knitting. I was a creative child with a special love for collecting beads and feathers, pieces of wood and stones. Ever since I can remember I was very interested in Native culture and their respect for nature and all living things!
Many years later, I started to make dreamcatchers with gemstones, and that was (again) the restart of my love for beads !
My favorite colors to work with in beadwork jewelry are Turquoise and Black Onyx.
By the end of 2008 i started a Dutch beadworkforum, as beadwork became more well known in The Netherlands.
Since april 2010 i run it together with Joyce, a friend beadworker.
We are also writing a book together about beadwork, including interviews and pictures from a lot of famous international beadworkers.
I own a little bead and jewelry shop on the worldwideweb: http://www.blackcrowjewelry.nl/
