ENTREVISTA
¿Quieres decirnos tu nombre?
Bradley Amen

¿Cuántos años tienes?
29

¿País de nacimiento?
Estados Unidos.

¿País de residencia?
Chester Springs, PA USA

How old are you?
29

What country are you born?
USA

Where do you live now?
Chester Springs, PA USA

When did you start with this hobby?
I've been chainmailling for a little over 2 years now.

How did you started?
I started my Etsy shop converting old radios to hook up to an mp3 player as well as making clocks for computer circuit boards. As a means of getting some feedback I made a purchase of a chainmaille bracelet. I liked it so much that I started looking around online and found quite a few resources, bought a few kits, and so it began. Initially I bought pre-cut rings and made several projects, but I've since moved on to coiling and cutting my own rings for almost all of my projects. I have worked with gold, sterling & fine silver, titanium, niobium, copper, brass, bronze, and aluminum. I have over 20 different patterns under my belt, but there are so many others I'd still like to try.

Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
Definitely the first on my list of inspirations would be Rebecca Mojica of Blue Buddha Boutique as her site is where I got my first kits and materials which got me going. The next would be David Austin of Chainmailbasket.com. While I have yet to try anything like he has, everytime I check his site I see something new and awe-inspiring. Last but certainly not least are all the members of the Maille Artisans International League (M.A.I.L.) as this community is a great source for learning the craft of chainmaille.

How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby?
I probably spend 5-10 hours each week on chainmaille. Although my time is not dedicated solely to chainmaille as I'm usually watching TV at the same time.

Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
My job is a mechanic at a steel mill, so chainmaille for me is a hobby. I wouldn't mind if I could make more extra money but at this point I put what I make selling pieces into materials for future projects.

What other hobbies do you have?
I love playing video games and watching TV and movies with my wife. We have 5 cats that are an endless source of both entertainment and frustration. I used to do counted cross stitch, but chainmaille has taken up the majority of my spare time; eventually I'll finish some of the kits in the basement.

Would you like to tell us a little bit more about you?
I spent 6.5 years in the US Navy submarine force, which allowed me to visit Spain, Italy, Greece, India, Singapore, Japan, Hawaii and other places I probably would have never seen otherwise. I've been married for 6 years to my lovey wife who is also a source of inspiration as I run most of my designs past her and she also is the photographer of all my work.
