ENTREVISTA
¿Quieres decirnos tu nombre?
Maureen Thomas

¿Cuántos años tienes?
Suficientemente mayor :)

¿País de nacimiento?
Estados Unidos.

ENTREVISTA ORIGINAL
Would you like to tell us your name?
Maureen Thomas

How old are you?
Old enough :)

What country are you born?
United States

Where do you live now?
Northern California / United States

When did you start with this hobby?
I started experimenting with polymer clay about 15 years ago, but I got serious 7 years ago.
How did you start?
I've used, collected, and loved both buttons and beads since I was a teenager. I started out in polymer clay with a desire to make my own beads. I create lots of other things with the material now, but I still love making beads.

Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
That's a very tough question! Because polymer clay is so versatile it has been taken in so many different wonderful directions. But, since you're MAKING me choose three: Tory Hughes because she literally wrote the book on imitative techniques, which I love. Celie Fago because I love her organic designs and impeccable craftsmanship. My friend and fellow guild member, Julie Picarello, because I've had the opportunity to watch her achieve artistic success through incredible discipline and ability to focus on a particular technique (mokume gane) and take it to the next level.

How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby?
25

Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
Yes

What other hobbies do you have?
Photography and textile arts. I find photography very relaxing and I particularly enjoy shooting pictures in my garden. Sewing was my passion before polymer clay took over my life. Recently, I find myself becoming drawn back into the world of sewing and fabric surface design.

Would you like to tell us a little bit more about you?
I grew up in Michigan, but have I have lived in Califonia for many years. In my "former life" I worked in Nuclear Medicine, which I really enjoyed, but I always felt frustrated that I didn't have enough time for my creative endeavors. My supportive husband finally encouraged me to leave medicine behind and I feel very fortunate to have spent the past few years doing what I love.
