ENTREVISTA
¿Quieres decirnos tu nombre?

ENTREVISTA ORIGINAL
Would you like to tell us your name? How old are you?
My name is Elena Samsonova and I'm 32.

What country are you born? Where do you live now?
I was born in Russia and now I've been living in USA for the last eight years.

When did you start with this hobby? How did you start?
My grandmother was a great DIYer and teacher - from age of three she taught me embroidery, and how to knit, sew and crochet. Than I remember myself always making something and learning new handmade techniques such as drawing, woodworking, macrame and then beading. During my beading period I realized I need some other bigger beads and cubs and that's how I find out about polymer clay. It was about four years ago. Now I'm into polymer clay and wire mostly but last year I fell in love with another great medium - metal clay! I don't know what will be the next medium I would struggle with but I love mixed media works a lot..

Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
I have a few favorite artist for the each of my favorite mediums: Dan Cormier, Dona Kato and Kathleen Dustin in polymer clay; Iza Malchik, Elena Strukova and Eni Oken in wire work. But I get inspired by all the works and photos of everything I can find on the Internet (flickr and etsy artists mostly).

How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby? Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
Each week I try to do more and more and spend more and more hours claying and making jewelry, because I'm trying to turn this hobby of mine into a full time job. So usually I spend from four to ten hours a day in my studio.

What other hobbies do you have?
I also love photography, love watching movies and travel with my husband. But making beads and jewelry is now becoming a true passion for me. Last year I've made a web site. Take a look at
