Would you like to tell us your name?
My name is Mila Heggland.
How old are you?
I am 35 years old.
What country are you born? Where do you live now?
I am ukrainian but now live in Norway because my husband is norwegian.
When did you start with this hobby? How did you start? Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
First I started to make beadwork 15 years ago. It was not so easy because I learned all technicks from different websites in the internet. I think my teachers are all beadworkers in the world and I am very thankful them for it! Of course I was inspired of wonderful works by Sherry Serafini. Result of this inspiration was my embroidered necklace "Cold Land" wich was Bead Dreams finalist in 2002.
But after time I was curiosed could I make some big and interesting beads? Is it possible to learn how to work with polymer clay? And two years ago I bought some cernit and fimo and started my new interesting journey in the wonderful polymer world. I watched masterpieces by Donna Kato, Ann Benson, Iris Mishli and many others and tried to learn colores, composition, shapes for my works. There are so many talented polymer artists in the world and watching their creations are the best way to grow our polymer skills. And of course this is necessary to see all beauty of the nature around us.
How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby?
Usually I work with polymerclay not less then 1-2 hours every day. I start few projects in one time and just change my activity from one to others. But when I worked on my "Sea Slugs jewels" I was consentrated only with that nine different beads.
Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
Work with polymerclay is not my job (a great pity))) but this is much more then my hobby. I think this is big part of my life now.
What other hobbies do you have?
And of course I continue to work with sead beads too. The other my big hobbies are painting and knitting. I learned painting during 24 years and beautiful nature does not let me to relax, I sould fix this beauty on my kanva.
