***Embellishment Queen***

Soy madre a tiempo completo.

¿Qué otras aficiones tienes?
Cantar, bailar, coser, pintar y la poesía.

Tengo antecedentes teatrales.

ENTREVISTA ORIGINAL
Would you like to tell us your name?
Sonseeahray Scott

How old are you?
36

What country are you born? Where do you live now?
The USA

When did you start with this hobby?
10 years ago officially but I played with it some in college.

How did you start?
I bought this necklace that had a great scarab bead on it but I was disturbed by the fact that it was not sterling silver. A friend of mine, who did beading told me where to go to get gems ,etc and showed me how to make a simple beaded necklace. I started out my jewelry making by creating dramatic ,beaded necklaces. Things that you would wear on stage.
At the time, it seemed like everyone in my community was doing beading and I knew that in order for my work to stand out, I would have to start working with metal. I started by just purchasing wire and playing. I never looked at or read a book or did any tutorials...it was all trial and error.
I worked retail, selling jewelry so I would look at different pieces to see how they were constructed. Eventually, after much trial and error, I started to create things that I was proud of. I absolutely love working with wire. It's my favorite medium.

Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
Stephen Dweck / jewelry designer
Gustave Klimt
And artwork from ancient civilizations, in particular Egyptian and Minoan frescos

How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby?
Almost every night until the wee hours of the morning

Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
It's a part time job in a sense. I'm a full time mother.

What other hobbies do you have?
Singing, dancing, sewing, painting and poetry
I have a theatrical background. I started as a ballet dancer at the age of 9 and eventually went on to study musical theatre. I wanted to be an actress but got romanced by costume design. After college I actually worked in costuming for several years. My interest in drama has really influenced my work as a jewelry designer.
