ENTREVISTA
¿Quieres decirnos tu nombre?

ENTREVISTA ORIGINAL
Would you like to tell us your name?
My name is Agi Kiss. Agi is short for Agnes and Kiss means ‘small’ in Hungarian :)

How old are you?
I’m 32.

What country were you born?
I was born in Hungary, Europe, in a small town.

Where do you live now?
I live in Southern Hungary, Szeged, where I went to university.

When did you start with this hobby?
I started beadweaving and bead embroidery in 2010.

How did you start?
One day a girl from work appeared with a pair of beautiful beaded earrings, I loved them, so I started to search the Internet, bought my first Rivolis and Delicas and soon I started to make my own beaded jewelry. I learned techniques on my own, from the Internet, as there were no beading courses where I live. But I’ve always been a creative girl (inspired by my dad), I’ve tried so many techniques I can’t even remember all, and I’ve made my own jewelry from wood, wire, polymer clay and beads since I was in high school. I like to make things myself, even if it’s just simple DIY in the house.

Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
Well, my first pieces were created from the patterns of Marie Géraud (http://www.bilobabijoux.com/), and I still adore her designs. Sherry Serafini (http://www.serafinibeadedjewelry.com/) and Nancy Dale (http://www.nedbeads.com/) inspire me with their amazing, spectacular bead embroidered pieces. But there are so many other artists who inspire me, I could make a very long list!

How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby?
I try to bead at least 1 hour every day, and more on the weekends, but it depends on how busy I am with work or my family.

Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
Right now it’s just a hobby, I have a full-time job as e-learning editor. But who knows what the future brings? :)

What other hobbies do you have?
I read a lot, mostly historical novels, my favorite authors are Umberto Eco, Amin Maalouf, Elif Shafak and Orhan Pamuk. I listen to music from all over the world and I love watching films. I also study French and Turkish language, very slowly though.
