ENTREVISTA

¿Quieres decirnos tu nombre?
Pippi Konstanski

¿Cuántos años tienes?

45

Hago edredones, he hecho cerca de 100.

ENTREVISTA ORIGINAL
Would you like to tell us your name?
Pippi Konstanski

How old are you?
45

What country are you born?
born in USA

Where do you live now?
I live in the beautiful mountains of central Idaho. I live in Sun Valley.

When did you started with this hobby? How did you started?
I started making wire wrapped jewelry in 2000. A friend, with whom I went to massage school, also made wire wrapped jewelry. After buying several of her pieces, I thought, "I could do this!". I took a basic wire wrapping class at my local bead shop, but always looked for ways to make more intricate, structural pieces. In 2005, I discovered Eni Oken's website, and bought several of her tutorials. They taught me the techniques I needed to create the ideas I had in my mind. My seahorses are my signature design, and I am currently working on a tutorial for making them, which I hope to have finished by the end of this summer.

Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
There are so many talented wire artists out there right now, but the three who inspired me the most are Eni Oken, Iza Malczyk, and Magdalena Borejko.

How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby? Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
Last Fall my jewelry making became my full-time job. I usually put at least several hours a day into making jewelry (though, sometimes, when I am caught up in a project I can work for 10 hours or more at a time!), and now that it is my work, I also spend hours a day working on the computer to promote my work. I sell my jewelry online in my Etsy shop,
http://pippijewelry.etsy.com/ , post regularly in my blog: http://pippijewelry.blogspot.com/ , and contribute regularly to several forums. I maintain a fan page for my jewelry on Facebook, and am also on Twitter. A lot of work goes into promoting my work, and I spend more time than I would like on the computer, but I always take the time to do what I really love, make jewelry!

What other hobbies do you have? Would you like to tell us a little bit more about you?
I am an avid outdoors person, and love to mountain bike, hike, and ski. The mountains where I live are the perfect playground for me! I also enjoy gardening. Before we moved to Idaho, we lived in Oregon, and I worked for an organic farm there for 13+ years. I am a quilter, and have made close to 100 quilts. I also love to draw and paint, and prepare delicious foods in my kitchen. I worked with a chocolatier in Oregon for a time, and I make amazing gourmet, chocolate truffles! :D
