***KreinikGirl***

He participado en varios video how-to de YouTube (www.youtube.com/user/kreinikchannel)

ENTREVISTA ORIGINAL
Would you like to tell us your name?
I go by KreinikGirl online (offline it’s Dena).

How old are you?
40! But I feel younger…when I make things I sometimes feel like a kid again.

What country are you born?
USA

Where do you live now?
USA - West Virginia

When did you start with this hobby?
My grandmother taught me to crochet and sew when I was very young. I would use up all of her tape to make seams on doll clothes, so she taught me how to use a needle and thread. I have been making things ever since in all kinds of mediums. About 10 years ago, a designer introduced me to bead crochet. In the last year, I have had been lucky enough to work with some very talented jewelry designers. So combining all influences, I just started “doodling” and making jewelry and beaded items.

How did you start?
I actually started with the fiber - and I use Kreinik metallic and silk threads for everything I make. I work for them as a designer contact, but I also love the threads for #1 quality, #2 color selection, #3 variety - Kreinik has braids of all different sizes, plus ribbons, a metallic chenille, and other fun threads that make great “starting points” for designs. So when I want to make something, I look at the fiber first (like Kreinik’s holographic thread), then create using the unique qualities of the fiber to its advantage.

Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
There are too many to mention. Crochet designer Gwen Blakely Kinsler has always been an inspiration for her free-form thinking. I also like Becky Meverden, Rae Wenneker, and Barbara Witt.

How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby?
Hmm, maybe four to fourteen, but it also depends on time of year (I make models for Kreinik to take to trade shows)

Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
Yes - hobby and job, as I work for Kreinik Manufacturing Company, which is involved in needlework, craft, quilting, fly fishing - all the creative arenas.

What other hobbies do you have?
Family, books, church, sports, beach - life is a blessing and I wish there were more time in the day to take it all in.

Would you like to tell us a little bit more about you?
I have been involved in several how-to videos on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/kreinikchannel)
