¿Cuánto hace que empezaste con esta afición?
Empecé a crear arte ponible mediante cremalleras en 2002 y se convirtió en un negocio en el 2003.
Cuéntanos como empezaste.
Hice el primer PIN cremallera en el año 2002 para mí y recibi muchos elogios. Luego hice Pins con cremalleras como regalos para familiares y amigos. A ellos les avisó una amiga de la escuela que estaba abriendo una boutique de nueva joyería en Brooklyn y me hizo un pedido. Su tienda fué visitada por "New York Magazine", y luego mi cremallera del PIN se presentó el "Best Bets" de la edición de septiembre de 2003 de la revista. Una experiencia llevó a la siguiente y el interés creció a partir de ahí.

Admiro al modisto, Phillip Treacy por sus extravagantes diseños y estilo.
Admiro a mi madre, Margaret Cusack, que es una ilustradora consumada (http://www.margaretcusack.com/) y que es una gran inspiración creativa y un recurso infinito.
Admiro a mi amiga, la joyera artista, Margaux Lange (http://www.margauxlange.com/) que ha creado una increíble colección de joyería hecha con trozos de muñecas Barbie y plata de ley.
¿Cuántas horas dedicas a la semana a esta afición?
Dedico casi todas las horas de vigilia a mi joyería de cremalleras no es un hobby, sino que es un trabajo.
¿Te dedicas profesionalmente a esto?
¡SÍ! Me siento muy afortunada de poder mantenerme gracias a mi creatividad.
¿Qué otras aficiones tienes?
Me gusta ir de compras, salir a cenar a restaurantes e ir al teatro y museos.
¿Quieres contarnos algo mas de tu vida?
Yo me crié en Brooklyn en una familia muy creativa, con dos artistas como padres. Estudié arte en el Maryland Institute College of Art para mis estudios universitarios y obtuve un BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts).

I first started creating wearable art using zippers in 2002 and it grew into a business in 2003.

I made the first Zipper Pin in 2002 for myself and received many compliments. I then made Zipper Pins as gifts for family and friends. They were noticed by a school friend who was opening up a new jewelry boutique in Brooklyn and she placed an order. Her shop was visited by "New York Magazine" and then my Zipper Pin was featured the "Best Bets" section of the September 2003 issue of the magazine. One experience lead to the next and the interest grew from there.

I admire the milliner, Phillip Treacy for his outrageous designs and flair. I admire my mother, Margaret Cusack who is an accomplished illustrator (www.margaretcusack.com) and who is a great inspiration creatively and an endless resource. I admire my friend, the art-jeweler, Margaux Lange (www.margauxlange.com) who has created an incredible collection of jewelry made using pieces of barbie dolls and sterling silver.
How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby?
I dedicate nearly all waking hours since my Zipper Jewelry is not a hobby, but rather is a job.
Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
YES! I am very lucky to be able to support myself with my creativity.

I enjoy shopping, dining out at restaurants and going to theater and museums.
