***Maria's HandWork***

ENTREVISTA ORIGINAL
Would you like to tell us your name?
My name is Ana Maria Simina. Maria for all the friends I’ve met thanks to this hobby or, more like, passion we share: beads and beading.

How old are you?
I’m 28.

What country are you born? Where do you live now?
Born in Romania and still live here, in a town in northern Transylvania.

When did you start with this hobby?
I started this hobby about 3 years ago.

How did you start?
When I decided to make my own wedding invitations (http://mariahandwork.blogspot.com/2008/11/how-it-all-began.html) I bought most of the materials from a small store, close to my home. Only after finishing with the invitations I discovered, in the same small store, lots and lots of beads and a couple of handbooks about beading. And so it all started. I bought all kind of beads and accessories and the handbooks I found about beading. Short tome after this, I discovered the online stores and started to have more and more supplies for my hobby and, so, more and more ideas.

Who are three artists who inspire you the most?
My jewelry are not very complex nor very sophisticated, I try to make simple designs, easy to wear by almost anyone so I don’t really find my inspiration in the work of great designers or artists though I sincerely admire lots of them.

How many hours a week do you dedicate to this hobby?
Not as many as I would like to. I sometimes spend 34-45 hours beading (this usually happens before going to exhibitions and fairs), but I usually spend only 5-10 hours/week at most with my beads.

Is this more than your hobby? Is it your job?
I like to think that it is more than a hobby, but it is not my job. I do have a full time job but it has nothing to do with creativity or arts and design.

What other hobbies do you have?
I like painting and drawing and I would love to have enough time for this hobby too.

Would you like to tell us a little bit more about you?
I don`t talk to much, especially not about me so, I don`t really know what else to say except that I have a wonderful and supportive husband, a familly that encourages me and helps me with everything possible in order to bring my hobby, my passion for beads to the next level.
